Defensive tackle Jurrell Casey signed a four-year, $36 million contract extension with the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday.

"We are excited to come to an agreement on an extension with Jurrell," general manager Ruston Webster said in a statement. "This is something Jurrell has earned not only with his play on the field but his work ethic as well. We appreciate Jurrell's professionalism through this process and look forward to many good years to come."

Casey's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed the deal and said $20.5 million is guaranteed.

The new contract makes Casey the highest-paid Titans player and the second-highest 3-4 defensive end on the pay scale. He's transitioning to end in first-year defensive coordinator Ray Horton's aggressive defense after standing out in a 4-3 scheme in 2013.

The third-round pick in 2011 (77th overall) from Southern Cal was named second-team All-Pro last season but was not voted to the Pro Bowl.

The 24-year-old finished last season with career bests of 55 tackles and 10 1/2 sacks. In three NFL seasons with the Titans, Casey has 161 tackles and 16 sacks.
