The NBA fined Brooklyn Nets coach Jason Kidd $25,000 on Friday for publicly criticizing the officiating.

Kidd made his comments during a conference call with the media one day after the Nets lost to the Toronto Raptors 115-113 in Game 5 of their first-round playoffs series on Wednesday. He complained that Brooklyn guard Joe Johnson doesn't get enough calls.

"If flopping is the way to go, then we have to maybe play that game," Kidd said. "But Joe is a strong individual, and unfortunately, he doesn't flop. He plays and he doesn't complain. But that's why we have officials, for them to make calls."

The Nets host the Raptors on Friday night with Toronto up in the series 3-2.
