UCLA fans out in force for the Sun Bowl's Sky Party

EL PASO, Texas -

Before the 80th annual Sun Bowl  between Virginia Tech and UCLA kicked off, fans gathered for the Sun Bowl Sky Party on the top of the nearby parking garage.

Fans traveling from both schools mixed with El Pasoans for a couple of hours, enjoying the warm winter day.

UCLA fans appear to be out in force for Tuesday's game, but there were also plenty of Virginia Tech faithful.

The UCLA band, complete with a pair of Bruin mascots, provided plenty of entertainment for everyone who started their gameday early in the morning.

Louann and Ken Olson came from North Orange County to watch their son Andrew play in the UCLA band. They couldn't have been happier about the welcoming weather.

"This is amazing. The weather is great. I love the fact it's a little cold because it's hot at home so this is wonderful weather," she said.

This is the Sky Party's second year and Sun Bowl organizers hope it will become a tradition.

"Looks like it's catching on," said Bernie Olivas, Sun Bowl executive director. "There's at least twice as many people as there were last year. You know, when you start something new, you gotta check it out. They said 'Let's give it another shot,' and I think it can grow."
