El Paso Police ID man struck by his own vehicle

A 49-year-old man was struck by his own vehicle on Sunday night after he got out of it to check on something and it rolled.

EL PASO, Texas -

El Paso Police have released the identity of the man who was struck by his own vehicle on Sunday night.

He has been identified as 49-year-old Jose Barrios.

Police say that Barrios was the driver of a 2008 Mountaineer he was driving along Dakota Ridge near Cloud Ridge when he pulled over and got out of his vehicle to check something outside.

The vehicle began to roll backwards and struck Barrios. He was transported to area hospital with serious injuries.

Barrio's wife and a 7-year-old female  were also in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

After hitting the driver the vehicle struck two parked vehicles.
