Family speaks about woman's skiing death at Ski Apache

Mescalero, NM -

Lincoln County New Mexico sheriff's deputies say an El Paso woman in her early 20s was killed Saturday in a ski accident in Mescalero.

Family members confirm the woman is Jacqueline Caballero, who was on a ski trip with her boyfriend at Ski Apache this weekend.

Caballero's brother says his sister was skiing fast down the slope when she hit a tree, causing a brain hemorrhage.

Caballero died shortly thereafter with her boyfriend by her side.

An off-duty paramedic was nearby and tried to revive the woman but his attempts were unsuccessful.

"My angel was taken too soon," Caballero's mother told ABC-7.
