EL PASO, Texas -

The office of democratic Congressman Pete Gallego is celebrating the grand opening of its Congressional District 23 office in Socorro.

The freshman congressman has been in office for about five months after he defeated republican incumbent Quico Canseco in last November's election.

Rep. Gallego represents the largest congressional district in Texas that spans from San Antonio to parts of east El Paso County, that includes Socorro.

Gallego's Chief of Staff, Cesar Blanco said it is a promise the Congressman is following through.

"The primary focus of the office is  to serve as a liaison between constituents and businesses and federal agencies. Constituents can visit the office for assistance  with problems relating to Veterans Affairs, Social Security, Immigration and Medicare," said Blanco.

The Congressional District 23 office is located at 860 Rio Vista in Socorro.

Friday evening Rep. Gallego will be there to celebrated the grand opening.
