EL PASO, Texas -

A routine traffic stopped lead to the arrest of a wanted felon Friday night.

Juan Leon, 31, was pulled over after driving with a defective tail lamp, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested Leon after he gave a false name. There were indicators he was lying about his name, according to sheriff's deputies.

Once Leon's identity was confirmed, he was taken into custody.

While being taken in, deputies said Leon fled from the officials on foot. He was apprehended after being stung by a taser, officials said.

An outstanding warrant in Leon's name was out for possession of a controlled substance. He had a $50,000 bond.

New charges of evading arrest/detention and failure to identify were added, according to the sheriff's office. Each carries a bond of $2,250.
