EL PASO, Texas -

Morrissey won't be resuming his tour in El Paso on Tuesday, Feb. 12 after all.

An announcement was made on his official Facebook page Friday night that all of his Texas shows, including the sold-out El Paso show, were being rescheduled.

"As the doctor has ordered MORRISSEY to rest for two additional weeks, the upcoming Texas engagements in El Paso (2/12), Austin (2/13), Pharr (2/15), Beaumont (2/16), and Dallas (2/18) will need to be rescheduled. MORRISSEY is currently undergoing treatment for a bleeding ulcer and Barrett’s esophagus. These shows are in the process of being rescheduled immediately and all patrons are encouraged to hold on to their tickets as the new dates will be announced shortly. MORRISSEY thanks everyone concerned for their well wishes and looks forward to getting back on the road. The tour will resume as scheduled in Denver at Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre on Feb 21," according to the Facebook post.

The El Paso show is expected to be rescheduled for April.

Morrissey's current tour has run into some obstacles going back to last year. Several concert dates, including an El Paso show, were postponed in November and December because of the singer's ill mother.

Morrissey started postponing/canceling concert dates on the rescheduled tour in late January, at first because of a reported bladder infection and then because of the bleeding ulcer.

On Jan. 31, Morrissey released a statement after six gigs were cancelled:

"The reports of my death have been greatly understated. Once admitted to the William Beaumont Hospital at Royal Oak in Michigan, I received treatment for concussion, a bleeding ulcer, and Barrett's esophagus. The positive from all of this is that there are now no known ailments left for me to try.

"I am fully determined to resume the tour on February 9 at the Chelsea Ballroom in Las Vegas. If there's an audience of any kind in attendance, I just might die with a smile on my face, after all. If I am not there, I shall probably never again be anywhere. Equally, I am determined to play Flint (Michigan) if it kills me (which, on the face of it, it almost has.)

"Thank you to everyone present at both Brooklyn (New York) and Melbourne (Australia) during recent weeks for two of the best nights of what might charitably be termed my "career". My debt to you will outlive time itself."

pause at my headstone,
MORRISSEY

Morrissey was feeling ill as he took the stage for El Paso's 2007 show at the El Paso County Coliseum but he was still able to deliver a full, blistering concert.

"I can, I will, I must," Morrissey told the audience at El Paso's 2007 show.

Get your Morrissey fix on Saturday, Feb. 9 at Club Dedo's Morrissey-David Bowie Tribute Night in honor of former TV news anchor Rene Romo's birthday. The night will feature music by the two musicians with Britpop and Motown sprinkled in.
