Christopher Miranda, 24

EL PASO, Texas -

A former Eastwood High teacher wanted on five outstanding felony warrants involving improper relationship between an educator and a student was caught Thursday morning.

Sheriff's officials as well as U.S. marshals and El Paso police worked together to capture 24-year-old Christopher Miranda.

Miranda was caught around 7:30 a.m. in the 1300 block of Adabel, and booked on three counts of improper relationship between educator and student, and two counts of sexual assault of a child. Both are second-degree felonies.

Miranda resigned last week as an educator, according to Ysleta Independent School District officials. He worked at Eastwood High School from June 2007 to February 2013 and was an assistant gymnastics coach.

He also started as a full-time substitute teacher in Aug. 2011 before he became a teacher of career and technology in Jan. 2012.

Ysleta ISD released the following statement:

"YISD is committed to the safety and well-being of all students and takes any report which compromises that safety very seriously. Immediately upon receiving information of a teacher having an alleged inappropriate relationship with a student an inquiry was initiated. Consequently the employee was immediately placed on administrative leave and the El Paso Police Department and Child Protective Services were immediately notified. The employee subsequently resigned from YISD. The District continues to cooperate fully with all law enforcement."

Ysleta ISD officials would not say when the alleged assaults or relations occurred, if they were with one or more students, or if they happened on school grounds.

Miranda was featured on this week's "Manhunt Monday."

Detectives believe there may be additional victims, according to police.

Anyone who was a victim can call the Crimes Against Children Unit at 838-0049 or Police Communications at 832-4400.

El Paso police told ABC-7 that the five charges against Miranda were filed on Thursday, Feb. 14, and the arrest warrant was issued on Friday, Feb. 15.
