More El Paso educators connected with grade manipulation are to be demoted from administration positions to teachers. The board is not releasing the names of those being demoted.
This comes after the results of the TEA's external audit and the district's internal audit which confirm that during the 2011-2012 school, and under former Superintendent Damon Murphy's watch, students grades were manipulated. Here's what they found:
- 9 of those students were incorrectly reclassified out of the 10th grade
- The district doesn't have written procedures for evaluation foreign transcripts or oversight
- Foreign transcripts were not converted to local grades consistently
